Meet Sammy – Senior Clinical Coordinator
Sammy has always been drawn to the healthcare field and previously worked in a busy Emergency department and as a Trainee Ambulance Officer. Seeking a better work-life balance and more time with her family, she decided to pursue a career in dentistry. She began her journey in private practice in the Northern Territory and also worked as a Dental Nurse at Alice Springs Gaol. Sammy further expanded her experience in general dentistry in Port Lincoln, where she had the opportunity to assist visiting specialists such as Orthodontists, Periodontists, and Oral & Maxillo Facial Surgeons.
Qualifications and Education
Sammy holds Business II & III qualifications in Business Administration, along with a Cert III in MYOB accounting. Additionally, she is a qualified Dental Nurse with 20 years of experience. Sammy pursued her education at ANZIFF (Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance) and TAFE S.A.
Continuing Education and Development
To stay up-to-date with the latest practices and advancements in dentistry, Sammy actively participates in continuing education courses. She focuses on infection control practices and procedures, as well as expanding her skills in areas such as 3D printing for creating retainers, mouthguards, and bleaching stents. Currently, Sammy is studying dental radiography to enhance her knowledge and further contribute to the dental team.
Fulfillment in the Profession
As a Dental Nurse, Sammy finds immense fulfillment in providing patients with the best possible dental experience. She strives to ensure optimal outcomes for both patients and dentists, working towards their shared goals. Sammy’s dedication to patient care and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable asset to our team.
Beyond Work
Outside of the dental practice, Sammy is actively involved in her community. She volunteers at the local RSL, supporting the mental health of ex-service men and women. Additionally, she enjoys spending quality time with her 2-year-old German Shepherd, Mr. Bowie, going for walks and engaging in training exercises. Sammy is an avid reader, particularly interested in true crime stories, and cherishes regular catch-ups with friends and family.
Sammy has a passion for fishing and cherishes time spent with her grandchildren. She makes it a priority to visit her family in Port Lincoln regularly, fostering strong connections with her loved ones.
